About The Position

The Design Project Engineer will lead the design and development of custom, engineered-to-order generator systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer with strong CAD expertise who thrives in a hands-on, project-driven environment and enjoys bringing complex designs to life. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead and design owner for customer-specific generator set solutions—delivering high-quality, cost-effective products that support mission-critical power applications. You’ll collaborate across global, cross-functional teams and play a key role in translating customer needs into manufacturable, real-world solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) with 3+ years of experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Creo CAD modeling (required)
  • Proven experience designing industrial or engineered-to-order products
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and CAD development of custom generator sets, enclosures, and system accessories
  • Own projects from initial customer requirements through engineering release and production support
  • Develop detailed parametric models, assemblies, and drawings using Creo
  • Provide technical leadership by guiding CAD designers and supporting global engineering resources
  • Partner cross-functionally with: Sales & Application Engineering to translate customer needs into engineered solutions
  • Electrical, controls, and harness teams to ensure full system integration
  • Manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure design for manufacturability
  • Purchasing to support accurate component selection and on-time delivery
  • Evaluate materials, components, and design approaches to optimize performance, cost, and quality
  • Identify technical risks and drive effective, data-informed solutions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering efficiency and custom order processes
  • Occasionally engage with customers and global engineering teams
