About The Position

The Boeing C-17 Engineering Design Office is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Project Engineer, located in Long Beach, CA. This pivotal role involves overseeing the overall engineering commitment performance in support of the Chief Engineer Office. The project Lead will collaborate with the entire C-17 engineering management team to track and collect performance metrics and lead deficiency recoveries and communicate with the program and customers as required.

Requirements

  • C-17 Design Engineering Experience
  • Proven experience in crisis management or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Weapons Systems military operations and aerospace industry standards
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • 10+ years of experience presenting summarized project status and issues to management and the customer along with recommended future steps
  • Must have 15+ years of aerospace industry experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams within Boeing and external partners.
  • Experience collecting data, developing metrics, and conducting trend analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); Experience collecting data, developing metrics, and conducting trend analysis.
  • Subject matter expert in Risk Management
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 15+ years of experience.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design reviews and ensuring timely and effective responses to customer inquiries.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including USAF, SPO, AMC, and Boeing, to address and mitigate fleet stability issues.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to mitigate identified risks and ensure operational continuity.
  • Prepare/Support technical Interchange Meetings and Facilitated and IPT Managed briefs
  • Issue and manage KNOT/CAP/supporting documents/Daily Status summaries
  • Provide Project/Technical integration to support aircraft recoveries.
  • Conduct/Lead technical discussions with IPTs and assist with root-cause determination and corrective action development.
