Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or complex building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Essential Duties for Design Project Coordinator II: Serves as program coordinator responsible for coordination of complex engineering/architectural projects from initiation to completion. Designs projects, making design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections. May assist in planning and coordinating office operations. Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway. Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Design Project Coordinator III (In addition to the above): May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees or consultants. Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development. Design Project Coordinator IV (In addition to the above): Assists in planning and coordinating office operations. Provides training for area of responsibility. Serves as lead worker and subject matter expert.
