About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I and II to translate owner’s project expectations into design drawings, specifications, and schedules, and provide financial cost documentation. Strong communication skills are necessary as you will coordinate with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Your ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality is vital to your success in this role. This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Manager, Estimating, or equivalent field
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and handle multiple project tasks
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
  • Positive professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies to employees and outside parties
  • Open to change based on diverse input and feedback
  • Effectively work with those of diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the organization

  • Minimum of two year’s relevant experience
  • The base pay range for this role is $84,100 - $113,500
  • Minimum four years relevant experience
  • The base pay range for this role is $93,400 - $126,100

Responsibilities

  • Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performance
  • Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and any associated communications and resources
  • Create and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for reaching set milestones
  • Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process
  • Identify technical design and specification concerns, escalate as needed to achieve resolution
  • Provide meaningful recommendations to project’s programming and conceptual design activities, ensuring constructability and logistics solutions in project design
  • Coordinate with integrated construction team to incorporate BIM/VDC modeling technology into project design phase
  • Assist with project proposal development
  • Prepare bid packages and contract manuals for subcontractors and suppliers in conjunction with project planning team
  • Analyze and track LEED requirements
  • Coordinate document and electronic interface processing
  • Model and set the tone for extraordinary customer relations
  • Gathering feedback and clarification during design process, and identify future projects
  • Other duties as assigned
