About The Position

As a Design Manager at Gensler, you will play a pivotal role in managing project teams and delivering exceptional client projects across various industries. This position emphasizes building strong client relationships, driving business opportunities, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will leverage your project management experience and attention to detail to oversee all phases of projects, from initial setup to construction administration, while actively supporting sustainability goals and mentoring future leaders in the firm.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience as a Project Manager in the architecture and design field
  • Experience with commercial projects such as base building, interior architecture, and interior design
  • Experience leading projects of various scales and mentoring Interior Designers and Architects
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal management skills
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm and with clients
  • Commitment to a collaborative design process
  • Experience negotiating project scope and fees
  • Knowledge of local building codes and standards
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and sustainable design principles
  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited program
  • Licensed/Registered Architect, NCIDQ certification, and LEED accreditation are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage project teams for multiple projects
  • Oversee all phases of projects including project set-up, programming, design, and construction administration
  • Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships
  • Engage directly with clients to assure approvals
  • Manage project scheduling, staffing, budgets, and project setup with clients and subcontractors
  • Track the financial performance of projects
  • Prepare project proposals and negotiate fees and contracts
  • Coordinate the bidding process
  • Ensure projects conform to contract requirements
  • Create and communicate clear project objectives and requirements
  • Support firmwide sustainability and resilience goals
  • Mentor the next generation of leadership and advance an integrated design culture
