Position Summary The Design Manager is responsible for the efficient production of high-quality design of digital and print marketing collateral for one of Aetna’s key strategic clients. You will ensure successful design in creative projects and programs through the development of cohesive, thoughtful creative concepts and seamless execution. You will work quickly and effectively, and continually finds ways to work more efficiently through in-depth understanding of design software and other digital tools. You will suggest improvements and modify formats to increase quality and scale of production. You will ensure all creative deliverables are aligned with the client’s design quality, brand and consistency standards. You will contribute design to an extensive collection of informative and promotional communications and campaigns, including but not limited to booklets, brochures, emails, digital flyers and banners. You will bring innovative, empathetic, tactical, and strategic-level thinking to client projects. You will serve as a strategic and trusted partner to the account management, writing and client teams. You will exhibit outstanding creative judgment and achieve the highest possible creative standards for all materials, regardless of medium. You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the client’s business, style, brand and consistency standards.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of digital and print creative work experience in an external or internal agency.
  • 5 plus years of health benefits insurance marketing and communication expertise.
  • Employee benefits knowledge and experience.
  • A strong portfolio with range of both impactful, imaginative print and digital design work, and a broad range of file formats.
  • Collaborates well within an entire communications team and across the organization; promote a “be of service” mentality to the client and across the internal team.
  • Ability to find common ground when debating creative or strategic opinions.
  • Strong detail orientation with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with willingness to be flexible and respond to quickly changing priorities.
  • Strike balance of strong creative and technical skills.
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze deliverable metrics for use in continuous improvement.
  • Superior knowledge of all print, digital, video, and web standards and requirements.
  • Advanced skills in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud suite, particularly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Mastery at retouching photos, re-positioning, and preparing both print and digital designs for final release and posting.
  • Ability to build motion graphics.
  • Mastery in conceptual design, user interface design, responsive design, and user-centered design.
  • Strong understanding of usability and accessibility best practices.
  • Strong expertise in designing for email marketing.
  • Solid understanding of presentation-layer code, including HTML(5) and CSS.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to successfully take digital projects through their full life cycle — from concept to launch.
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design aesthetics.
  • Ability to establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and color effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Edge Animate are a plus.
  • Experience in Adobe WorkFront, Stripo and Sales Force Marketing Cloud a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage a deep understanding of the health insurance industry, client’s benefits, audiences, and business objectives to develop creative that aligns with the client’s vision.
  • Ensure successful execution of print and digital creative projects, delivering on time and meeting the required quality standards.
  • Effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders, demonstrate a clear understanding of design objectives, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Develop user-centered designs, ensuring that the products and services deliver an exceptional client and user experience.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with other teams such as account management, copywriting, MarTech, operations, and digital teams.
  • Establish and implements programs and innovative initiatives for the organization to advance Creative and Design initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational creative efficiencies and improvements.
  • Understand the important of accessibility and meeting WCAG 2.0 standards in design.
  • Effectively manage multiple design projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ensure all output is in alignment with client principles, values, and standards.
  • Conduct complex ideation sessions with teams to develop creative initiatives.
  • Coach others in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.
