Role description: Arcadis is seeking a Design Management Controls Specialist to join our growing Design Management practice. This role is critical to strengthening project governance, financial discipline, and performance transparency across complex, multidisciplinary design programs. You will work closely with Design Management Leadership, Design Managers, Project Managers, and technical leaders to provide clear insight into cost, schedule, risk, and resource performance helping projects stay aligned with Arcadis standards and client expectations. This is a hybrid role within the United States, offering flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant design projects. Role accountabilities: As a Design Management Controls Specialist, you will serve as a trusted partner to project leadership, providing actionable project controls insight from pursuit through delivery. Responsibilities include: Monitor and report on design project performance, including cost, schedule, and resource utilization, identifying trends, risks, and variances. Develop and maintain project control tools such as budgets, forecasts, earned value metrics, and dashboards. Prepare clear, reliable reporting for Design Management leadership and project teams, enabling informed decision-making. Support risk and opportunity management processes, including identification, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mitigation tracking. Partner with Design Managers and Project Managers to support change management, including change orders, claims support, and scope tracking. Support design resource planning and forecasting in coordination with discipline leads and Design Management leadership. Ensure alignment with Arcadis Project Controls standards, governance expectations, and best practices across assigned projects. Leverage data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) to continuously improve transparency and insight into design performance. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design management controls, templates, and reporting approaches across the practice. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; or an equivalent professional accounting qualification. 5+ years of experience in project controls, project management support, or cost/schedule management, preferably within a design or professional services environment. Proficiency in financial controls, forecasting, and performance reporting during design phases. Ability to translate complex project data into clear, concise insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working within Design Management or design-led project delivery environments. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, Oracle-based financial systems, and enterprise project controls platforms. Exposure to portfolio-level or program-level reporting Collaborative mindset with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Why Arcadis? We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000- $130,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls, project management support, or cost/schedule management, preferably within a design or professional services environment.
