About The Position

As Design Leader, Electrical of the Vancouver team, you will be involved in overseeing, mentoring and developing Electronic Designers, while continuing to directly contribute to new product development and continuous improvement. In conjunction with new product development, the Designer Leader - Electrical is expected to assist with validation and qualification testing to ensure products meet the rigorous functional and safety standards associated with Dometic Marine products. In addition, responsibilities may also include monitoring progress and resources to ensure programs are within budget, schedule, performance specifications and safety criteria. Team members will be working alongside electronic, embedded firmware, and mechanical product designers to solve a variety of technical challenges to develop novel technologies that pave roads towards successful product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for Electronic Development Engineering team.
  • Review and evaluate design solutions to meet cost and functional targets.
  • Review and provide technical direction for product solutions to meet design requirements.
  • Review and approve design validation plans for new products/designs.
  • Circuit design including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and routing using Altium Designer (or an equivalent electronic CAD program)
  • Advocate best practices and look for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Hold design reviews and conduct validation tests (EMC, EFT, and other automotive qualification testing)
  • Design electronic products, assemblies and components to meet design requirements.
  • Represent the design engineering team in multi-function program teams which include product management, manufacturing, quality, production, and supply chain management for new product launches and continuous product improvements.
  • Identify market opportunities and research solutions; estimate project design times and cost estimates.
  • Monitor status, maintain program commitments and report out progress on programs.
  • May be required to act as Program Manager for smaller programs.
  • Promote group discussions, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations (PMP) and recommend personal development.
  • Assist in applications support and troubleshooting as required.
  • Complete additional job duties and assignments up to 15% of the time.
