About The Position

Overview The Design Intern will be working with the Design Team to maintain the day-to-day design activities for all existing and new projects. The projects may include scoping, site analysis & layout, building configuration & design, request for proposals & design contracts, design & permitting schedules, weekly design team meetings, design progress reviews, project process creation & organization, and internal design presentations to ownership. The Design Intern will work withall departments of Buckingham Companies, including but not limited to Development, Legal, Finance, Analytics, Preconstruction, Construction, and Property & Asset Management Qualifications Must be pursuing a college degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction related field, landscape architecture, interior architecture, or real estate Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft suite, AutoCAD, and cloud-based interfaces, such as Sharepoint Other preferred software: Smartsheet, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, and Revit Valid Driver’s License and reliable private transportation Maintain a 3.0 GPA or above Preferred interest & experience in the following: site design, architecture & engineering, interior design, building permitting, construction details & administration, and project management Ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment Exceptional leadership, management, communication, and collaboration skills Innovation in presentation creation and process development Responsibilities Assisting in managing day-to-day design activities for all existing and new project assignments Assisting Design Managers and Development in new site layouts, analysis of project pro forma, and development of project scope Assist Design Managers in creation of requests for design proposals and execution of design contracts Assist Design Managers and Development in creation of Smartsheet design schedules including coordination with Preconstruction on permitting and construction durations Assist internal and external Design Teams in creation of building configuration, composition, and architecture Participate and contribute to weekly design meetings to ensure coordination between external design consultants, including but not limited to landscape & design architects, civil & MEP engineers, interior designers, and other specialty consultants Review design documents for completeness, constructability, aesthetics, and consistency with Buckingham Design Standards and Pattern Schedule Assist Design Managers in collaboration with Preconstruction to ensure project stays within budget and on schedule Assists Design Managers in continued organization of project documents and enhanced development of project processes including SOPs and templates Assist Design Managers in creation of internal design presentations to ownership, including but not limited to Property & Asset Management and Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and external design consultant presentation kickoffs Assist Design Managers in collaboration with Buckingham Construction Corp. on construction administrative tasks and Property Management on property turnover at completion of construction #cc

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a college degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction related field, landscape architecture, interior architecture, or real estate
  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft suite, AutoCAD, and cloud-based interfaces, such as Sharepoint
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable private transportation
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA or above
  • Ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional leadership, management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Innovation in presentation creation and process development
