About The Position

The Design Intern will join a 17-person Development and Marketing team at City Parks Foundation, reporting to the Marketing Director. The Graphic Design Intern will provide design support for the City Parks Foundation Marketing department and various program areas including sports, education, community engagement and arts programs with a heavy focus on supporting design for our Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage festival. The Graphic Design Intern will assist the Graphic Designer with projects including but not limited to marketing promotional materials; social media assets, print and digital advertisements, event posters; and assist in editing and updating other templated designs. This role is an opportunity to work on diverse projects with massive New York City exposure. The intern candidate must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours/week between April and August. Start and end dates are flexible. This is a paid, hourly position and may qualify for academic credit. This role will be hybrid (1-2 days a week in office).

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in graphic design work with either a prior job, internship or school work
  • Must be able to work independently and remotely (a laptop will be provided)
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal communication skills, and have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong graphic design skills and portfolio to show examples of work (classwork will be accepted)
  • Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Must be proficient in Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of After Effects and GIF animation a plus (not required)
  • Interest in the nonprofit sector or the performing arts is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the graphic designer with updating templated designs including social media graphics, and a variety of design projects for the SummerStage festival
  • Design and repurpose existing artwork for marketing promotional material including social media campaigns, media advertisements, program flyers, and more
  • Update design assets for our other program areas including the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, the NYC Green Fund, and our Sports and Education programs
  • Work closely to support the Marketing Team on additional projects
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on interest and professional development goals
