About The Position

2026 Design Intern Summer Program – Chapel Hill, NC Lord Aeck Sargent is seeking talented design students who enjoy working in a collaborative culture for an exciting, paid ten-week internship with our full-service, award-winning architecture and planning firm in our Chapel Hill office. This program offers hands-on experience working on various stages of a project from early schematic design to construction documentation. LAS brings multidisciplinary expertise across education, science and research, cultural, civic, and mixed-use environments. Our design process is rooted in a profound understanding of local context and deep green design principles , resulting in architecture that is uniquely thoughtful and resilient. We are dedicated to creating high-impact environments that go beyond sustainability to leave a lasting, positive impact. The internship program includes: Working with our design teams and clients Leading a pro bono design project with other talented interns Visiting an active construction site Earning AXP hours Engaging in one-on-one mentorship Attending in-house seminars and workshops Touring significant architecture and neighborhoods around Atlanta Social events with the intern cohort and mentors Here’s what you need to know: Location: Atlanta, GA Application deadline: Sunday, February 22 by 11:59pm EST Interviews will take place March 4 – 6 Offer notifications will begin Monday, March 10 Internship dates: Tuesday, May 19 – Friday, July 24 This is a ten-week, full-time internship, and Interns are expected to be present for the entire duration of the program. Work format: Interns are highly encouraged to work in the office but can utilize the current LAS in-person work policy (with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office) when needed. Hourly wage: $22/hr

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a related design program (i.e., architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design/planning, etc.) and are preferably in their penultimate year of school.
  • Demonstrates a sharp, critical eye with a passion for design excellence paired with a proactive eagerness to learn and contribute to complex, high-performing projects.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and are responsible for arranging their own transportation and lodging.
  • A cover letter telling us why you’re interested in interning at LAS and what you hope to gain from the experience.
