About The Position

The full time Design Intern will work in our Houston Corporate Office this summer to support the design department in various design-related activities throughout the built-to-rent construction process. The corporate office has unbeatable perks like daily catered lunch and a large gym downstairs. This position provides an excellent opportunity for gaining hands-on experience in design coordination, project management, and collaboration across internal teams and external partners. Strong attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Availability to work a typical schedule, Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable moving around work environments, including stairs and construction sites.
  • Ability to lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organization, coordination, and project management skills.
  • Lift or move items up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Reliable transportation that meets job responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of design projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to assist in the development and refinement of design concepts.
  • Help coordinate and communicate design changes, updates, and modifications to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and other project documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the maintenance of project-related documentation, including design files, permits, and approvals.
  • Assist with coordination with external consultants, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of design materials and products.
  • Help prepare and present design-related materials for internal and external meetings.
  • Provide general administrative support to the design department, such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and managing design-related correspondence.
  • Contribute to improving design processes and workflows.
  • Report to the Office daily following typical work schedule, Monday through Friday.
