About The Position

Supporting the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (CCDC‑SC) Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a Design Fabrication Technician to join our team and contribute to innovative projects that directly enhance soldier safety, readiness, and mission success. What You’ll Do Design & Fabricate: Participate in the design, development, and fabrication of parachute and shelter components. Prototype Development: Create preliminary layouts, execute design details, and fabricate prototypes using knowledge of construction techniques, production methods, and materials. Precision Repairs: Repair and modify airdrop and shelter equipment with fine seams and replacement parts that match original strength and quality. Support Innovation: Assist engineers and project managers by fabricating experimental/prototype parachutes, cargo delivery systems, shelters, tents, covers, and other soft‑wall structures. Collaborate & Interpret: Work from work orders, blueprints, sketches, and verbal concepts, consulting with design draftsmen and engineers to bring ideas to life.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability with industrial sewing machines
  • High school diploma plus 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabricate products efficiently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Solid analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of personal parachute systems and assembly (civilian or military)
  • Experience following technical manual procedures
  • Skills in CAD and/or SolidWorks
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills
