About The Position

Intervala is seeking a hands-on Design Engineering Technician Assistant to support their Design Engineering team in the development, testing, and refinement of electronic products. This role is crucial in bridging engineering and production by assisting with prototype builds, documentation, component handling, and product modifications. The ideal candidate should possess strong soldering skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering or electronics manufacturing environment
  • Soldering experience (through-hole and SMT) or the ability to quickly develop these skills
  • Strong soldering and rework capabilities
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of ESD practices and handling of PCBAs
  • Ability to read or learn schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeter)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies, including 3D printing

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-620 standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform soldering and rework on through-hole and SMT components to support design changes and repairs
  • Assist with engineering documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical findings, and work instructions
  • Support procurement activities by sourcing, ordering, and tracking components and materials
  • Remove and install PCBAs into chassis for testing and development
  • Assist with material handling and product transfers within engineering and production
  • Operate and support 3D printing for prototyping activities
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to communicate priorities and project updates
  • Prepare documentation for design reviews and engineering discussions
  • Support prototype builds and product development efforts as needed
  • Follow all general team member requirements, including safety and quality standards
