POSITION OVERVIEW The Design Intern will work directly with all members of the design, drafting and engineering team to gain a comprehensive hands-on experience in mechanical engineering design and drafting. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Manufacturing Facility: Learn what it is like to work in a modern-day manufacturing facility, how to excel in a fast-paced work environment and the general production flow. Time Management: Learn how to establish strong time-management skills. Office Flow: Learn the general office flow from sale to shipment. SolidWorks: Learn how to use SolidWorks solid modeling software to design structurally sound and efficient products. Blueprints: Learn to read, create and apply blueprints in building our product. Quality Control: Learn to identify quality issues and how to integrate quality into the final product. Perform other duties necessary to achieve our vision, fulfill our purpose, and live out our values.

Requirements

  • Be a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate of high school (must be 16 or older)
  • Have the ability to abide by Spika company policies and procedures
  • Have the ability to follow directions
  • Have the ability to work safely
  • Show enthusiasm
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn
  • Have the ability to participate effectively as a member of a team
  • Have time management skills
  • Have basic math skills
  • Must have the ability to lift 10-25 pounds.
