About The Position

Humanscale Design Studio is the creative force that drives Humanscale, the leading manufacturer of ergonomic products for the workplace. Our passion is designing products that combine uncompromising function and honest aesthetics with ultimate ease-of-use. We seek an exceptional individual to join the engineering team as a Design Engineering Intern focusing on new product development. The successful applicant must possess a background in mechanical engineering, an analytical and creative mind, a willingness to learn in a fast-paced production environment, and an outstanding work ethic.

Requirements

• Completion of at least 2 years of a mechanical engineering degree from an accredited institution
• Understanding of mechanisms and mechanical systems
• Experience using 3-D modeling software such as Solidworks
• Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and their function
• Basic knowledge of common manufacturing processes
• Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences through various media, including; Clear and concise language, Drawing skills, Digital image manipulation, Clear and professional emails
• Ability to lift 60 pounds
• Must be able to do repetitive bending and stretching

Responsibilities

• Engage in brainstorm sessions and conceptualize solutions to real-world problems
• Perform competitive product research and teardown analysis
• Manage the construction of prototypes
• Execute test plans to evaluate product performance and reliability
• Research new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Using CAD software, develop 3D models of parts and assemblies
• Perform theoretical mechanical analysis on prospective designs
• Develop engineering drawings that communicate necessary information for manufacturing and assembly
• Assist in reviewing off-tool samples and inspection reports
