About The Position

As part of the Sensors team based in Burnsville, Minnesota - The Design Engineering Intern will participate in the mechanical design, test and troubleshooting of various types of sensors for the aviation industry. Tasks will be part of a team effort that will be focused on the design of new products as well as support of current manufacturing. This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development, regulations, and gain experience in presenting technical information.

Requirements

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

• Degree in Material Science / Engineering with strong academic record and interest in material properties, characterization, processing, and industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing of data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
• Participates in investigation of pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
• Assists in designing, developing and testing metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
