About The Position

Your role As a Design Engineer at Quincy Compressor, you will contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement of our products by designing and developing both electrical control systems and mechanical 3D assemblies. This role plays a key part in new product development projects while also providing hands-on production support to resolve design and performance issues in existing products. What You Will Do Design, develop, and improve mechanical and electrical systems for new and existing products. Provide technical and manufacturing support, troubleshooting issues and offering guidance for production and service teams. Lead and coordinate the research, design, and implementation of electrical components and software solutions. Create 3D assemblies and detailed 2D/3D drawings in AutoCAD Inventor for product design and updates. Prepare and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) within the ERP system. Develop and support control code for PLC and HMI hardware and ensure reliable DSC and Field Bus communications. Plan, conduct, and document testing to validate product performance and ensure designs meet quality and safety standards. Write and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including technical manuals, assembly instructions, and service guides. Develop and deliver technical training and support to internal teams as needed. Design, calculate, and size starter controls for both fixed-speed and variable-speed machines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of electro-mechanical engineering experience, ideally within rotational machinery or the compressed air industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical control panel and motor design and applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (3D and 2D); Inventor or SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • A creative and innovative thinker who enjoys hands-on problem solving and works effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, sound and vibration, and sheet metal/structural design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with compressor operation and programming experience are advantageous.
