A Typical Aircraft Engine Nacelle consists of Inlet, Fan Cowl, Thrust Reverser, and Exhaust structures. Each component interfaces with the engine and provides critical functions required for engine operation. In this role you will be responsible for the mechanical design of these Nacelle system components.

  • Coordinate with the Engine Manufacturer and Airframer to define the Nacelle system architecture and develop layouts.
  • Generate Technical Data Packages for system subcomponents, including 3D models and drawings.
  • Create and participate in technical presentations to support both internal design reviews and external customer reviews.
  • Coordinate with Senior Engineers to ensure that Nacelle systems and components meet technical and program requirements in accordance with business standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with multiple vendors and customers to define system functional and physical requirements and interfaces.
  • Review and approve engineering change packages, including part definition and change substantiation.
  • Provide technical inputs to cost out projects and associated reviews.
  • Communicate and work effectively with team members.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design, bolted joints, lug design, fastener fits, and tolerance stack analysis.
  • Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and processes. Ability to generate 3D models of machined fittings, sheet metal components, and assemblies. (CATIA V5 preferred).
  • Ability to create and interpret product design documentation, including 2D drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Basic understanding of typical manufacturing processes as it applies to the design of machined fittings and sheet metal components.
  • Basic knowledge of Composite Materials and Processes.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
