Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Design Engineer to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY. The key responsibilities of this Design Engineer include, but are not limited to: Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples/prototypes. Interfaces with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customer specifications. Coordinates the manufacturing of customer prototypes. Reviews customer documents for compliance with Amphenol Aerospace Operations documents and, if necessary, prepares new designs to conform to these documents. Works closely with various departments to help create solutions. Communicates with customers, marketing, manufacturing, quality, process, and purchasing, and experimental personnel. Prepares and checks drawings as required and process changes. Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems.

  • Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in design or design engineering.
  • Ability to work from either written or oral instructions, with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to make design layouts and production drawings.
  • Must be capable of assuring form, fit, and function of components through dimensional studies while correlating engineering data to customer specifications.
  • Ability to maintain dedicated focus on intricate details of engineering designs.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of PTC Creo and Windchill (or similar parametric modeling software).
  • Knowledge of GD&T, especially positional tolerancing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical formulas a plus.
  • Sitting and typing for long periods of time.
  • Works collaboratively with others on the design engineering team to accomplish required tasks to support the interests of the business.
  • Willing to travel as required (less than 10%).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Creo is preferred but not required.
