Dover Precision Components, part of $8 billion stable and growing Dover Corporation, is hiring a Design Engineer for our Waukesha Bearings business. Join our government contracts' engineering lab! We offer competitive salary and benefits and the ability to work a remote/ hybrid schedule- 3 days a week onsite at our interactive and innovative Pawcatuck, CT facility, and 2 days a week remotely, if you'd like. Waukesha Bearings is a market leader in custom-engineered fluid film bearings, magnetic bearing systems, and seals for high-performing turbomachinery. Because of US government requirements, US Citizenship is required for this role.

  • Interpret Engineering instructions and requirements to create high tolerance, multiple component mechanical 3D models and drawings.
  • Perform checking duties related to assembly and component drawings, part structures (BOM's) and item specific information.
  • Participate in process improvement and design for manufacturability activities.
  • Develop and maintain 3D model and 2D drawing database within Product Data Management (PDM) system via Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.
  • Create Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within ERP system.
  • Perform checking duties on assembly and component level drawings.
  • Provide guidance to other Design Engineers and Drafters.
  • Update existing drawings to current/best manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel and engineering to ensure design requirements are met and the best manufacturing processes are used.
  • Contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals as needed.
  • Support manufacturing personnel with evaluations of deviated components, corrective action investigations and other quality related activities.
  • Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering Management.
  • Independently meet deadlines necessary to support the company's commitments to customers and manufacturing.
  • Some customer (mostly local) and other site visits may be involved, with up to 10% overnight travel.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years' work experience in engineering design with 3D modeling experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, CSWA, or CSWP preferred).
  • Experience reading & developing engineering design prints with geometric dimensioning and tolerances per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to utilize precision measuring and surveying instruments such as calipers, inside/outside micrometers, depth gages, surfaces gages, etc.
  • Understanding of Engineering Principles and Design Practices.
  • 2D software experience (AutoCAD) preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to customer (mostly local) and manufacturing sites, up to 10% overnight travel.
