About The Position

As a Design Engineer III, you will play a key role in the preparation, coordination, and execution of land development engineering projects. You will independently perform engineering calculations, prepare detailed construction plans, and collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and clients to support successful project outcomes. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; EI required.
  • 6–10 years of engineering experience in land development design for a variety of projects (preferably Colorado-specific).
  • Exceptional communication, organization, multi-tasking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D on AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of construction plan submittal requirements for local agency permitting and approvals.
  • Working understanding of site development disciplines including coordination with civil, landscape, and architectural teams.
  • Experience working with local agencies to secure project approvals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Aptitude to learn new tasks and meet organizational goals.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative to meet client deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations for land development projects with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare construction plans, site plans, utility networks, grading, and surface designs.
  • Adhere to project schedules and budgets while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal team members, external partners, and clients.
  • Prepare designs, drawings, specifications, bidding documents, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct and coordinate design and construction surveying efforts.
  • Contribute to large engineering and construction projects as an integral team member.
  • Prepare drainage reports and stormwater management designs.
  • Conduct construction inspections, review contractor pay requests, and evaluate change orders.
  • Support the review and approval of residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and building permit applications.
  • Assist in issuing engineering permits and correspond with developers, contractors, agencies, and the public.
  • Respond to technical questions and provide information to stakeholders and the public.
  • Review designs and reports for compliance with jurisdictional requirements and company standards.
  • Mentor and help develop engineering staff.
