As a Design Engineer II part of our Technology and Development Mechanical team, you will be working onsite at our global headquarters responsible for designing and developing medical device components, assemblies, and fixtures within the framework of a cross-functional team.   • Technical expertise: The Design Engineer should have a strong background in engineering. They should possess a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices relevant to their industry.
  • Product Design: Develop and create detailed design drawings and specifications based on project requirements and be able to utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models of products or systems.
  • Creativity: They will need to have the ability to be creative. An inventive mindset is essential for you to design new products and services or improve upon those that have already been created.
  • Problem Solving: They will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues that arise. This will include taking action to solve the problem by generating ideas for the solution, finding out the reasons behind the problem, and implementing the solution.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and design reviews.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of designs into the overall product development process.
  • Three to Five years of relevant engineering work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting such as SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with working hands-on to create prototypes.
  • Excellent organization, communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work and generate solutions independently.
  • Experience in the medical device industry.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and clinical needs.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and quality standards, including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and ISO quality systems.
  • Exposure to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Test Method Validation.
  • Experience with software such as NetWeaver/Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Experience with Minitab or other statistical analysis software.
  • Experience with leading teams or projects.
  • Experience making informed decisions on component strength and reliability through use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
  • Competitive compensation range: $80000 - $100000 / year (California).
