About The Position

As a Design Engineer II, you will contribute to the design, planning, and development of civil engineering projects with a growing level of independence and responsibility. This mid‑level position is ideal for candidates with strong technical abilities who are ready to take the lead on engineering tasks, collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior staff. You will prepare detailed engineering designs, perform calculations, and support client and agency coordination efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; EI required.
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience in land development (preferably Colorado‑specific).
  • Exceptional communication, organization, multi‑tasking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D on AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of construction plan submittal requirements for local agency permitting and approvals.
  • Working knowledge of site development disciplines including civil engineering, landscape architecture, and architecture coordination.
  • Experience working with local agencies to obtain project approvals.
  • Enjoy working in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Aptitude to learn new tasks and processes.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative to meet client deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform engineering calculations for land development projects.
  • Prepare construction plans, site plans, utility networks, grading, and surface designs.
  • Adhere to project schedules and budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, external partners, and clients.
  • Prepare designs in accordance with general engineering principles and standards.
  • Produce drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and coordinate design and construction surveying.
  • Prepare drainage reports and stormwater management designs.
  • Collaborate as part of a team on large engineering and construction projects.
  • Assist with issuing engineering permits and communicate with developers, contractors, agencies, and the public.
  • Answer technical questions and mentor engineering staff.
