The Design Engineering Co-op position is an exciting opportunity for students currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specifically in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in the engineering design process, allowing co-op students to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting. Under close supervision, the co-op will engage in various engineering assignments that require a solid understanding of basic engineering principles. The primary focus will be on creating design layouts and product configurations for complete systems and subsystems using advanced 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, along with CAE analysis tools. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in a collaborative engineering environment while contributing to meaningful projects. As part of a design team, the co-op will have the opportunity to lead and direct Design/Drafters in tasks such as part detailing, drawing creation, and defining bills of materials (BOM). The role also involves writing essential engineering documents, including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Specification for Requirements (SFRs), and Work Order Requests (WORs). Participation in design and product improvement teams will further enhance the co-op's understanding of the product development lifecycle and the importance of continuous improvement in engineering practices. In addition to technical responsibilities, the co-op will serve as a liaison between Project Managers, other Engineers, and Designers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration within the team. This position not only emphasizes technical skills but also values strong communication and interpersonal abilities, as the co-op will be expected to interact with various stakeholders throughout the design process.
