Summary: This role will support engineering design and development activities for Automotive Body-In-White (BIW) Structures.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3+ years of Automotive Body-In-White (BIW) structures / sheetmetal components design and development experience
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of experience using CATIA V6 for 3D modeling 2D drawings and 3D annotations (CATIA V5 experience will be considered).
  • Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) for sheetmetal products/stamping process required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs
  • Travel to client sites required.
