Senior Aerospace SSP is seeking a Design Drafter with expertise in CATIA V5 to join our team in Burbank, CA. This position is integral to our operations, focusing on the design and drafting of complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing 3D models and drawings using CATIA V5 R21 to R2018, ensuring that all designs meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry. The role involves performing checking functions and coordinating designs with both project and manufacturing engineers, which requires a deep understanding of aerospace design principles and practices. As a Design Drafter, you will be expected to demonstrate expert-level skills in creating sketch-based solids and geometric surfacing. You will create complex and simple detail, sub-assembly, and top assembly drawings, write engineering orders, and make changes to existing drawings. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating assemblies and drawings for test procedures, performing weight calculations, and conducting design checks of models and drawings created by other drafters. A strong understanding of GD&T practices per ASME and ANSI standards is essential, as is knowledge of manufacturing processes related to machining metallic components and sheet metal forming. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including shop personnel, customers, and vendors, to facilitate manufacturing processes. You will also develop assembly BOMs and may be involved in performing tolerance stack-ups and interference checks as needed. This role does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires a high level of independence and initiative in completing tasks efficiently and accurately.
