About The Position

As a Design-Build Project Manager, you will serve as the primary authority responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of projects for Chinook’s Design-Build Line of Business. You are accountable for managing scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk while coordinating engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational transition activities across the full facility lifecycle. This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of complex mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in mission-critical and secure environments. You will work closely with internal engineering and operations staff, subcontractors, design partners, and Government or Commercial clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and in accordance with contract requirements. This position is REMOTE, and your base of operations will be your home, but you must be able to travel to client sites up to 30% of the time. The majority of our clients are in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, especially in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 8 years of directly relevant experience. A High School Diploma and 13 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Requires at least 4 years of experience managing people.
  • Requires sound technical knowledge and knowledge of industry best practices for complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls systems in commercial / federal applications.
  • Proficiency of business tools and databases is required.
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint).
  • Requires a Valid State Issued Driver's License and the ability to travel to various work sites.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to our customer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.

Nice To Haves

  • An Active Secret or higher Security Clearance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from conceptual design through final commissioning and closeout.
  • Define scope, objectives, deliverables, and performance requirements.
  • Develop project execution plans, schedules, and cost forecasts.
  • Manage design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk mitigation.
  • Direct technical teams across engineering, controls, cybersecurity, and commissioning.
  • Oversee design integration of complex MEP and BAS/DDC systems.
  • Ensure compliance with UFC, EM-385, NFPA, ASHRAE, and client standards.
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and sequences of operation.
  • Manage commissioning, testing, and system turnover documentation.
  • Manage trade partners and specialty subcontractors.
  • Track and review subcontractor deliverables.
  • Monitor construction progress against schedule and budget.
  • Resolve field conflicts and negotiate win-win solutions.
  • Manage project budgets, change orders, and earned value.
  • Support proposal development and cost estimating for new work.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting to leadership.
  • Present project updates to executive stakeholders.
  • Cultivate follow-on business opportunities.
  • Support major proposal efforts and technical narratives.
