About The Position

Maggie Sottero Designs is looking for a Design Assistant 1 that assists the Product Development Manager in the creation of wedding dresses and their accessories. Design Assistant 1s work full-time hours in an office. This role is highly administrative but provides critical, hands-on experience in the bridal gown production process, requiring excellent multitasking skills and high attention to detail.

Requirements

At least one year of Design Room Experience, preferably Bridal.
Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design or relevant field preferred.
Must be able to work in a very fast paced and changing environment, must be a self-starter and independent thinker who can solve problems, juggle multiple priorities and think quickly on their feet.
Extremely organized and maintains strong attention to detail.
Generate creative solutions; translate concepts and information into images
Strong ability to prioritize workload according to needs of the department
Ability to check for errors and accuracy in excel spread sheets
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign are a must
Knowledge of design industry, processes, and manufacturing are essential
Experience with patternmaking and technical design

Responsibilities

Support the design team with administrative tasks
Keeping the design studio organized and clean
Unpacking and steaming of samples.
Assist in sample fittings by organizing and getting the gowns ready and taking notes
Assist in getting images of samples for communications to factories and for internal use.
Assist in QA of samples for final production
Assist with final tech packs for our concierge team
Assist with basic tasks within the design area as needed
May be asked to dress models and travel to domestic market(s)
