About The Position

The Design and Release Engineer for the Driver/Passenger Seat Module (DSM/PSM) Hardware is responsible for delivering a robust solution for this key module used in most vehicle programs and electrical architectures. The DSM/PSM includes functions such as seat adjust, cushion extension/retraction, cushion temperature control, recline position, pivot, memory, lumbar support, and power running boards. The engineer will manage all product deliverables necessary for their assigned vehicle program, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or a related engineering field.
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Software Delivery System requirements and specifications.
  • Proficiency with engineering computer systems including WERS, AVBOM, PPM Audit, Digital Buck, Team Center, Integrator, and MS Office.
  • Experience with program delivery.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for cross-functional cooperation and issue resolution.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Ford D&R process preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, Vector tools such as CANalyzer, and troubleshooting tools like oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with Ford product development system applications.
  • Strong analytical skills including 8D, 6-Panel, FMEA.
  • Experience with electronic circuit design, board layout, and electronic module manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of all engineering requirements for the DSM/PSM per each development milestone as defined by the Ford product development process.
  • Support all vehicle prototype builds, product launch, and service issues.
  • Perform testing at electrical breadboards and provide status updates in Jira.
  • Manage product financial status; review proposals to increase/decrease costs and seek approval for those changes.
  • Collaborate with the Seat Modules team, software engineers, and supplier teams to support product development.
  • Work with the Vehicle Electrical Program Management Team (PMT) and Program Vehicle Team (PVT) to launch the DSM/PSM during prototype and production phases.
  • Support the development of foundation documents including DFMEA, specifications, D/PVP&R, worst case circuit analysis (WCCA), and device transmittals.
  • Support technical design reviews (TDR) for module hardware design requirements and interfaces.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve program-specific engineering issues.
  • Leverage failure detection strategies such as fault tree analysis and fishbone diagrams.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem resolution processes using vehicle CAN network tools.
  • Collect and analyze CAN data, review system schematics and vehicle EDS as required.
  • Develop solutions to revise or add features to the DSM/PSM as they impact hardware.
  • Lead DSM/PSM configuration development and release efforts.
  • Assist in defining required behavioral requirements to meet program needs.
  • Ensure alignment with Product Definition Letters and compliance with regional regulatory requirements.
  • Lead resolution of warranty and quality issues.
