About The Position

The Flight Management Systems (FMS) engineer will work closely with leadership, engineers, pilots, and customers in the field of electronic flight controls covering areas such as control laws, software/hardware integration, and system verification in Mesa, AZ. The engineer will be able to develop and communicate creative solutions to complex electronic flight control challenges. The engineer will develop and document system requirements, and analyze and translate those requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. The engineer will perform system verification and validation testing to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements. Will monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Will solve problems concerning and provide other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Will assist in research towards specific technology advances for potential company application needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 1+ years of experience in electrical and/or electrical system design

Responsibilities

  • Experience in flight control system design, requirements (architecture, hardware, software), control law and software design
  • Experience in flight control system analysis, design trade studies, technical report writing
  • Experience in electronic flight controls design, modeling, analysis, integration and test at all levels (desktop simulation, full scale lab, piloted simulation)
  • Requires basic ability to understand hardware, software, and their interaction
  • Knowledge of fundamental electronic flight control design concepts (signal management, built-in-test, redundancy management, failure monitoring, etc.) and various key subsystems (e.g. vehicular modeling, actuation, hydraulics, navigation)
  • Knowledge of Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), FMECA, FMEAs etc.
  • Interest in supporting Weapon’s Analysis (Simulation and Modeling, Safe Separation, Target Handover, Aiming Algorithms, State Estimation, etc.) (with experience in any of these desired but not required)
  • Experience in developing presentation packages that convey complex concepts with clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
  • Software/Coding expertise in C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, Python, Git, Embedded software (Raspberry pi, FPGA)
  • Embedded hardware (Raspberry pi, FPGA)
  • Circuit Design/Circuit Analysis/PCB design
