About The Position

The Derrickhand is responsible for the smooth operation and support of the mud module, including the mud pumps and mud pit/shakers. This role involves working under the supervision of the Driller and reporting directly to the Rig Manager, ensuring that drilling operations run efficiently and safely.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years rig experience as a Floorhand or Motorhand for Nabors Drilling USA or 1 year of experience as a Derrickhand for another drilling company.
• Ability to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to wear respiratory protective devices.
• Reliable transportation to and from the rig.
• Ability to successfully complete Derrickhand training at the NDUSA training center.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, certificate, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of all equipment on a drilling rig, especially chemical and drilling fluids.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs to mud pumps and associated equipment as requested by the Driller or Mud Engineer.
• Ensure the chemicals and mud mixture are of sufficient type and quantity for drilling operations.
• Direct and supervise the Floorhand assigned to assist with sack handling or shakers.
• Maintain general housekeeping and upkeep of equipment in the chemical/mud pits and mud pumps.
• Assist the Driller with raising and lowering drill pipe during tripping operations.
• Regularly weigh the mud, analyze viscosity, and measure barrels gained or lost every half hour.
• Respond efficiently to instructions from the Mud Engineer, Driller, or Rig Manager.
