The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full-time academic dermatopathologist. This position is open-rank, and we welcome applications from recent fellowship graduates as well as mid-career and senior-level pathologists. Candidates may be considered under either the academic clinician track or the physician-scientist track. BIDMC is a 743-bed tertiary care facility and a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. It is also affiliated with a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and is a member institution of the Beth Israel Lahey Health network. The position primarily entails dermatopathology sign-out and a role in training fellows, residents, and medical students in diagnostic pathology. The successful candidate will be expected to advance academically at Harvard Medical School by developing a program of scholarship, participating in research projects, and having a leading presence in national meetings and post-graduate courses. The Department of Pathology is launching strategic initiatives in precision diagnostics—including cancer genomics, multiplex biomarker theranostics, and computational/digital pathology. The department will also play a central role in a groundbreaking new collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. We are seeking a collaborative, energetic, and team-oriented faculty member with strong diagnostic skills in dermatopathology. Candidates with active research programs—clinical, translational, or laboratory-based—are encouraged to apply. Those with existing NIH funding will be eligible for competitive startup packages and dedicated research space.
