About The Position

Our laboratory located in Schaumburg, IL (a suburb of Chicago) is looking to add a Dermatopathologist with General Sign-Out to their team of 11+ Pathologists. We are seeking a candidate that is AP/CP and Dermatopathology certified. In addition to core derm specimens, case work in the lab includes cytopathology, genitourinary pathology, GYN, and gastrointestinal pathology. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine
  • AP/CP Board Certification
  • Board Certification/Board eligibility in Dermatopathology
  • Active unrestricted licensure for IL
  • Fulfill responsibilities listed in CLIA '88 if required
  • Open to flexible day shift hours

Nice To Haves

  • Peripheral smears preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a large biopsy or cytology lab preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic interpretation of biopsy and/or cytology material
  • Diagnosis to include gross and microscopic evaluation, dictation, and electronic release of reviewed cases
  • Participate as an active medical member of the department with substantial diagnostic case responsibilities
  • Participate in peer consults, and continuing education
  • Perform quality control and assurance
  • Interact with ordering physicians who request to speak with a pathologist
  • Provide expertise and help to technologists and technicians to resolve problems
  • Participate in departmental professional Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities, e. g. Pathologist Competency Assessment Program
