About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in ambulatory practice areas plays a crucial role as part of the interdisciplinary team, focusing on direct patient care and clinic operations. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients while ensuring quality care and a positive experience. The CMA operates under the supervision of the physician and reports to the Clinic Manager, contributing to the overall functionality of the clinic and patient care processes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required.
  • Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
  • Must maintain MA and CPR certification/registration during the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a CMA, preferably in dermatology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients to the exam room.
  • Screen patients prior to the doctor's exam and document in EPIC.
  • Prepare for patient procedures and effectively explain processes to patients.
  • Maintain inventory and manage supply ordering.
  • Help monitor clinic flow and stock exam rooms.
  • Determine appropriate information and resources needed related to clinical situations.
  • Organize and summarize patient information.
  • Use various equipment to monitor vital signs and other health metrics.
  • Identify signs indicative of a changing patient care situation and notify the appropriate individual.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and critical thinking in patient care activities.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Independently prioritize daily tasks and assignments.
  • Follow established policies and procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
