About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a fast-paced Mohs surgery practice, with additional clinical coverage responsibilities throughout our medical dermatology practices. The position is located at 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, New York, and requires flexible start and finish times. The LPN will be accountable for the provision of direct care to assigned patients in an outpatient setting, contributing to unit activities and supporting the enhancement of the care delivery system. The role involves working as a team member, assisting other staff members with implementing patient care, and assuming responsibility for care under the direction of the co-assigned RN or MD. The LPN will participate in the plan of care, implement appropriate nursing interventions, and contribute to patient/family education through data collection, interdisciplinary team collaboration, documentation, and excellent communication.

Requirements

• Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to multitask and enjoy direct patient care.
• Technical aptitude in nursing procedures.
• Surgery experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to assigned patients in an outpatient setting.
• Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system.
• Assist other staff members with implementing patient care.
• Assume responsibility for care for assigned patients under the direction of the co-assigned RN or MD.
• Participate in the plan of care and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
• Contribute to patient/family education through data collection and documentation.
• Room patients and obtain vital signs.
• Record health information in e-record chart.
• Prepare patients for Mohs surgery and administer local anesthesia.
• Perform wound care and pressure dressings.
• Assist the physician during surgical procedures.
