Deputy Tax Clerk Accepts and p rocesses transactions for various types of taxes, including motor vehicle and property tax payments ; sets up and monitors payment plan agreements. Assists taxpayers and the public by responding to questions, or directing them to the proper person. Collects payments and fees, submits payments and makes change. Balances and inputs daily transactions. Assist Internal Auditors. Maintains knowledge of current laws and regulations relating to motor vehicles, and sales tax laws and procedures. Files customer records, including any supporting documentation and information from other agencies. Prepares transaction reports, as needed, for the State. Tracks and ensures the security of State accountable items, and is held personally accountable for shortages. Assists other employees with more complicated transactions ; Trains new employees. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. May be required to work extended hours and/or weekends. Ability to type 40 WPM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years of related work experience
  • Ability to type 40 WPM
