About The Position

The Deputy Superintendent serves as acting Superintendent in the absence of the Superintendent, assuming all the duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Superintendent. The Deputy Superintendent provides leadership for the district to create and implement strategic initiatives, execution strategies and monitoring and accountability. The Deputy Superintendent provides advice as to the appropriate use of resources, assists in preparation of agenda for Board meetings and provides leadership in the development of improvement strategies. The Deputy Superintendent keeps the Superintendent informed as to all financial, information services, facilities, operational and personnel issues and status of the school system. Requirements

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
Certification in Administration at the elementary and/or secondary level
At least five (5) years of leadership experience at the district and/or school level in an administrative capacity
Must have adequate expressive and receptive English language skills, to be able to communicate with and be understood by coworkers, receive their responses and respond to them appropriately.
Must be able to read and recognize appropriate traffic and warning signs and instructions.
Must be able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content, and respond verbally and in writing.
Must have the ability to understand and respond to the verbal expressions of others, often in a noisy environment with multiple speakers and background noise, or outside.
Must have the ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk, walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest.
Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
Must be able to conform behavior to that which is socially accepted as being appropriate to an adult and positive role model.
Must have knowledge and compliance with relevant state and federal laws governing education.
Must have good executive functioning skills sufficient to ensure timely and accurate compliance with detailed federal, state and local record keeping requirements.
Must be able to exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

Serves as acting Superintendent in the absence of the Superintendent, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and laws
Disseminates information in order to accomplish the district’s goals
Coordinates and facilitates communications with federal, state, county and local agencies and stakeholders of the district
Develops and implements strategic and measurable academic achievement and staff recruitment and retention plans
Plays a leadership role in fostering professional growth and building of staff functionality and morale throughout the district
Oversees the annual staffing plans and resource allocations for the district
Oversees the development of school year calendars for the operations of the district
Leads the district directors and principals who manage day to day functions
Mitigates and manages conflicts
Works with Superintendent to implement the Board’s strategic plan
Recommends policies for the most efficient operation of the school system
Coordinates the preparation and presentation of studies and reports critical to effective decision making
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
