Job Summary: Supports the Space Mission Program Manager in planning, directing, and executing all program activities for the MOSSI II program. Acts as second-in-command, ensuring operational continuity and effective delegation of duties. Leads initiatives in business development and customer relationship management to drive program growth and sustainment. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals, with a high degree of creativity and latitude expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four - year college or university in a related field and 10-15-years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and customer relationship management within the aerospace or defense industry is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Space Operation or Moon to Mars Programs is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring program goals, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Serve as acting Program Manager in their absence, ensuring seamless program operations and decision-making.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute program objectives, ensuring safety, technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements are met.
  • Support the development and management of program budgets, proposals, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, production, quality, supply chain, HR) to resolve issues and optimize performance.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical, cost, and schedule reports for government and senior management.
  • Identify obstacles to achieving business goals and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor mid-level managers, professional staff, and administrative support as assigned.
  • Foster a culture of continual process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the program’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead or support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and bids for new contracts or contract extensions.
  • Write, edit, and coordinate high-quality technical and business proposals, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and organizational standards.
  • Review and critique proposals prepared by others, providing constructive feedback to strengthen content, clarity, and competitiveness.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape to inform business development strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential partners, subcontractors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the program at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to promote capabilities and secure new business.
  • Serve as a primary or secondary point of contact for key customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are understood and met.
  • Develop and implement customer engagement strategies to enhance satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Coordinate regular status updates, reviews, and feedback sessions with customers.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to drive program improvements and innovation.
  • May manage activities of two or more sections or departments through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of cost, methods and staffing.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • In some instances, this manager may be responsible for managing staff function and may not have subordinate managers.
