About The Position
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as Deputy Sheriffs. In this position, you will be responsible for patrolling county roads, highways, and residential areas to deter crime and provide support to community members. You will enforce traffic and criminal laws, conduct security checks for businesses and residences, and investigate road and safety hazards. Engaging in community policing and proactive strategies will be essential, as you will collaborate with community members to identify and implement innovative approaches to reduce crime. You will also monitor and direct traffic, investigate collisions, and assess situations to determine appropriate actions based on the law. Your duties will include conducting investigations of reported criminal activities, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports for court and agency use. You will provide court testimony regarding your investigations and serve subpoenas and warrants of arrest. The role requires flexibility, as you will be expected to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, and may be required to work overtime. Additionally, candidates who need to relocate for the position may be eligible for reimbursement of moving expenses up to $2,500.
