About The Position

The Deputy Sheriff position involves performing patrol duties, responding to emergency calls, and ensuring the safety and security of the community. The Deputy Sheriff will also be responsible for court security and ensuring compliance with state laws and procedures.

Requirements

• High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Specialized courses/training in law enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency dispatch calls and patrol rural areas.
• Ensure buildings and residences are secure.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Serve warrants and file reports.
• Maintain education requirements and provide public relations functions for the community.
• Complete and coordinate special assignments from the Constable.
• Conduct or manage internal investigations to ensure integrity.
• Develop and modify policies and procedures in accordance with state law.
• Perform court security duties and operate magnetometers.
• Coordinate with justice courts to meet court needs and ensure the safety of judges.
