About The Position

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is seeking experienced applicants to fill positions as Deputy Sheriff's who perform a variety of law enforcement functions, depending upon the level of experience and area of assignment, in a correctional facility, with the courts, on patrol, or in crime investigations. This Deputy Sheriff - Lateral recruitment targets applicants who have experience as a Peace Officer and possess a current CA POST Basic Certificate or higher. Those interested in a career in law enforcement who have not attended a CA POST Accredited Basic Academy should apply for Sheriff's Trainee. Applicants who have completed a CA POST Accredited Basic Academy but have NOT been employed and received a CA POST Basic Certification may qualify for Deputy Sheriff-PreService. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Pass San Bernardino County's safety, medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, including a drug test.
• Be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation. Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony.
• Have a valid California driver license.
• Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Participate in mandated in-service training.
• Must possess a current California POST Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced Certificate.
• All applicants not currently employed by a California law enforcement agency must have been so employed within the last three (3) years or possess a current California POST Requalification Certificate.
