The Deputy Sheriff-Jailer is a sworn deputy position assigned to the Jail Division. The individual performs such duties to include but not be limited to: book and take fingerprints and photographs of persons brought to the jail, supervise inmates, keep written and computerized records, and serve as court security as needed. This is a generalist position that emphasizes the application of incarceration methods and procedures as they apply to a county jail when appropriate and necessary, while performing general jailer duties. This individual will exercise a good deal of discretion and act independently in some situations while performing a variety of jailer duties and tasks.
