About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform protective, security and technical/specialized work functions associated with responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, preventing criminal acts, conducting investigations, executing designated assignments, protecting life and property, maintaining law and order, enforcing criminal and traffic laws and federal, state and local laws and ordinances. Providing and maintaining security, safety, care and control of inmates, county jail and facility equipment, supervising inmates in the county jail. Deputy to work in Community Relations. Must be a Ga. POST certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of three years experience as a law enforcement officer. Primary responsibilities of a Community Relations deputy will be coordinating and delivering special courses and programs that work to educate the community and to build the relationship between the community and the Sheriff's Office. Deputy will attend and participate in media events, public events and group activities to portray a positive image on behalf of law enforcement. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, high attention to detail, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team. Work schedule is typically 8-hour workdays, Mon.-Fri., however, depending on workload, some days could be 12-hours in duration. Some weekends, holidays, evenings and nights will be required based on the agency's needs. Flex days may be implemented to manage overtime hours. Deputy will be on-call as needed for emergency situations, disasters and critical incidents.
