About The Position

The Deputy Sheriff I position is a critical role within the Sheriff's Department, which is the fifth largest sheriff's department in the nation. This position involves guarding and supervising prisoners in correctional and court facilities, as well as performing various law enforcement duties. Incumbents will be rotated through different assignments and shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

• Current or former peace officers in PC 830.1 status who have successfully completed probation.
• Possess a valid California P.O.S.T. certificate (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, or Management).
• Graduated from a California P.O.S.T. certified Peace Officer Regular Basic Course Academy.
• Possess a valid California Driver License by date of appointment.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Be at least 21 years of age by the date of appointment.
• Not have been convicted of a felony.
• Pass a background investigation.
