Particular Duty Assignment : The Academy Deputy Instructor responsibilities include developing lesson plans, instructing various topics and subject matter for the Basic Peace Officer Certification course and in-service and continual education training courses. Deputy Instructors also serve as panel members to cadet selection boards when necessary. The Deputy Instructor position requires occasional assistance to physical training instructors by participation in physical fitness exercises with the cadets. Deputy Instructors assist with firearms instruction and emergency vehicle operations, so the Deputy Instructors will be capable of managing other strenuous activities such as firearms safety support, Emergency Vehicle Operations training support, and ALERRT training role player and participant. Work Schedule / Supervision: The candidate selected will report to a Sergeant in the Academy. Work Schedule will typically be daytime hours; however, there will be times when the Academy Deputy Instructors will be required to adjust their work schedule to accommodate training needs.
