About The Position

The Deputy Safety and Health Manager at Bechtel will play a crucial role in developing and executing the safety component of the Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) program for the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant project. This position involves both administrative and field tasks, ensuring compliance with industry practices, regulatory requirements, and Bechtel standards. The role requires practical application of occupational safety principles to manage safety and health aspects effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, health, or a science-related discipline.
  • 10-13 years of experience in safety and health management or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills for data management and report preparation.
  • Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing safety programs for complex projects.
  • Familiarity with Army Regulations related to chemical safety.
  • Experience in emergency preparedness and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a project-level safety and health program for a large-scale project.
  • Integrate safety and health requirements into planning documents and decommissioning plans.
  • Prepare technical and regulatory reports to support ES&H program execution.
  • Provide technical support to project teams to ensure safety and health requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with the global business unit's Safety Manager on significant issues.
  • Prepare the project Environmental, Safety and Health Management Plan and related safety plans.
  • Emphasize risk assessment to improve the ES&H program continuously.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and investigate safety incidents.
  • Evaluate incidents and analyze ES&H performance trends.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and address their safety and health concerns.
  • Supervise project-assigned safety and health personnel.
  • Conduct assessments and inspections to monitor ES&H compliance.
