About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to be based in Oakland, CA. The role involves leading the execution of significant rail/transit project delivery, managing and preparing transportation project teams, and participating in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables. The Deputy Project Manager will perform quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings, prepare technical specification sections, and provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules. Establishing relationships with local agencies and being a visible leader/trusted advisor to clients is essential. The position requires managing staff and tasks associated with rail/transit contracts, supporting various rail professional services pursuits, and leading meetings with clients and stakeholders. The Deputy Project Manager will also mentor junior to mid-level staff and be responsible for the entire project lifecycle from planning to closeout.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in organizational development and leadership.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing the delivery of large complex rail transit projects.
  • Experience in continuous design management responsibility.
  • Ability to create grading plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads or OpenRail.
  • Familiarity with plan/profile creation for rail projects.
  • Track and manage task budgets and schedule experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.

Nice To Haves

  • PE in the state of California or ability to obtain registration within 6 months.
  • Experience interfacing with state and local jurisdictions.
  • Ability to analyze and inspire innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • High level of organizational ability, capable of pivoting and re-prioritizing.
