About The Position

Deputy Program Manager – Missile Defense Location: Colorado Springs, CO Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a seasoned professional to support mission-critical efforts in missile defense with experience in project and program management, focused on risk management, program level processes/functions, CDRL/document management and quality control. While not a managerial position, this role is part of the program-level leadership team and reports directly to the Program Manager. Primary Responsibilities Program Support: Assist the Program Manager in managing contract actions, subcontractor coordination, staffing, and financial oversight—including Earned Value Management (EVM) planning and reporting. Risk Management: Collaborate with the Government Risk Management Team to identify, mitigate, and reduce risks to acceptable levels when risk cannot be neutralized. Governance & Compliance: Recommend, update, and communicate governance, risk, and compliance policies across the organization. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of risk mitigation activities and prepare detailed reports for senior leadership on governance and risk status. Process Development: Lead the creation, documentation, implementation, and assessment of program-level processes and procedures. Contractual Compliance: Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and applicable government standards, including: Proper document markings Security labels Distribution statements Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, additional years of experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirement. US Citizen; Currently possess an Active Secret Clearance. Demonstrated experience in writing and editing government documentation. Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and interpersonal communication abilities. Proven initiative and resourcefulness in technical and operational environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and other document management and collaboration tools. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks effectively. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field. Familiarity with USSF Risk Management processes and procedures. Understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SaFe), Scrum, and digital systems engineering environments. Experience with USSF/SSC and the missile warning/missile defense community.
