About The Position

The Deputy Operations Manager serves as the primary support to the Operations Manager and is responsible for coordinating, directing, and monitoring departmental operations related to facilities operations, sustainment, restoration, and modernization at NSB Kings Bay. This role ensures that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements, Amentum policies, and customer expectations. The Deputy Operations Manager acts as the Operations Manager’s designee when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline and at least three (3) years of experience in maintenance or operations leadership; OR a total of eight (8) years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supervising personnel or supporting facilities operations of similar size, scope, or complexity.
  • 30‑Hour OSHA certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate employees.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operations Manager in implementing Amentum policies, procedures, and operational strategies.
  • Support oversight of daily operations and maintenance, including IDIQ assessments, recurring work, awarded project execution, and work closeout.
  • Monitor work progress, identify issues, and escalate concerns to the Operations Manager as needed.
  • Prepare departmental reports, updates, and briefings for the Operations Manager and Project Manager.
  • Maintain situational awareness of safety, mission, and customer‑impacting issues and communicate promptly.
  • Provide leadership to supervisors and technicians, including training, scheduling, performance management, and corrective actions.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and safety‑focused work environment that supports employee engagement and retention.
  • Assist in managing labor and resource allocation to ensure efficient and cost‑effective operations.
  • Coordinate with Work Control to ensure clear, timely communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support budget planning, contract modifications, and operational forecasting as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, Amentum SOPs, and all contractual requirements.
  • Help manage multiple projects and priorities, maintaining quality and timeliness.
  • Adapt to changing operational needs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding work control and logistics systems used in daily operations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional use of office equipment (computers, copiers, etc.).
  • Understanding customer needs and supporting solutions that maintain contract integrity.
  • Personnel oversight, including timesheet review, leave approval, coaching, and recognition.
  • Clear communication, including briefings to management and customers.
  • Completion of required training per government and company directives.
  • Timely and accurate execution of assigned tasks and deliverables.
  • Professional conduct in all interactions.
  • Adherence to Amentum safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Compliance with Amentum SOPs and personnel policies.
  • Managing multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining quality.
  • Being onsite during normal business hours and available for after‑hours support as needed.
